SOUTH AFRICAN SCHOOL’S ROWING CHAMPIONSHIP 2010
REGATTA INFORMATION
To be
read in conjunction with the rules of the Regatta.

Venue
-
The 2010 South
African Schools Rowing Championships will be held at Roodeplaat Dam in
Pretoria from the 26th to the 28th Feb 2010.
-
Entries
-
All entries must be
made using the website
www.regatta.co.za.
-
Entries CLOSE on the
16th February 2010 at 17h00.
-
When capturing
entries onto the Regatta Website, entries must be made in crew ranking
order by event. If any event has more than 8 heats restrictions will be
made by school affecting schools with the most entries.
-
Late Entries made
after the close of the draw will only be allocated an event where open
lanes still exist. No new heats will be created as this would mean
reseeding the draw a process of some 8 hours. Entries will only be
entered into open lanes on a first come, first served basis. Once all
the lanes are full extra entries will be excluded.

Preliminary Regatta
Programme will be published on 18 Feb for
names changes and corrections by 21 Feb at 17h00.

Final Regatta
Programme will be published on 22 Feb after
which time no changes will be made.

Any event attracting
less than three entries from 3 different schools will be cancelled.

Schools may only enter 5
single scullers per age group;
-
Entries will only be
accepted from Schools who are up-to-date with payments to SASRU.

Spectator Entry Tickets
-
In addition to the
normal R70.00 entry ticket for the weekend (discounted with the
pre-regatta purchase), SASRU will be selling DAY attendance tickets
valid for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday at R30.00. Parents may
purchase entry tickets at the Rowing Centre main gate on Friday;
Saturday and Sunday at R70.00 per adult valid for the three days.

Clubs are invited to
sell pre-regatta entry tickets to their parents and supporter in advance
for R50.00 a ticket (i.e. R20.00 discount). There is no charge for
Children. These tickets will be available from Lesley Hutchins during
February.

All Coaches will be
allocated free tickets for entry into event.

Roodeplaat Entry Tickets
-
Special Roodeplaat
main gate entry tickets at R70.00 per car and valid for Wednesday to
Sunday for visiting clubs.
-
Any person entering
Roodeplaat, without any of the above ticket options, on either one of
the days will be expected to pay the normal R25.00 per vehicle. This
also applies to parents dropping off rowers.

The above does not
apply to persons who have purchased a full-years-seasons-ticket which is
valid anytime (R250.00).

Sponsors

SASRU has not
secured a main sponsor for this regatta, so if there is anyone out there
who can assist, please contact Lesley Hutchins 082 447 5321.

All schools heads, staff , rowing representatives, coaches and officials are
invited to attend the SASRU AGM immediately after the last race on Saturday
(at approximately 15h30).

Flag poles are available for schools wishing to fly their school flags. The
Regatta Committee will take precautions to ensure the safe keeping of these
flags.
-
Schools are advised to bring their own boat trestles for rigging and boat
storage. Racks will be allocated to schools for quads; fours and eights.

Accommodation:.

Schools requiring
camping facilities at Roodeplaat need to book sites well in advance.

All Schools to arrange their own transport to and from the regatta.

Task Lists -
-
All schools are
expected to assist with various jobs to be done both before and at the
Regatta. Schools tasks allocated. Task list is published on
www.sasru.co.za under heading
“Championships”.

Trailer Parking:
-
An area along the
bank of the dam outside of the rowing area has been allocated for
trailer parking.’
-
Trailers must be
parked as per the marshal’s instructions.
-
Sculling Trailers –
if used as boat racks – can be parked behind the clubhouse.
-
Cars with boats on
the roof racks will not be allowed into the club house or VIP parking
areas.
-
All boats must have a number holder on the bow of the boat to take a lane
number. Schools must provide their own lane numbers and these must meet the
requirements of the RowSA Rules of Racing

Boat Weighing -
The rules for
boat weighing were changed since the 2007/8 season. Crews are now solely
responsible for the weight of their boats and GROA no longer issue stickers.
The scales will be available for pre-weighing. Exact dates and times when
the scales will be available will be communicated at a later date.

Ballast - Crews should note that they are responsible
for the ballast for their boats and coxwains. The latter only applicable for
J19 coxwains. GROA/Regatta Organisers can no longer assume this
responsibility.

Lane Numbers –
All crews must make sure that their lane numbers are compliant to the Rules
of Racing. NO crew will be allowed on the water if their lane number is not
compliant. Crews should NOT rely on GROA/ Regatta Organisers to supply lane
numbers.

Rower
entry fee: 8 and 8x: R120 per crew; 4 and 4x: R50 per crew; 2 and 2x: R25
per crew; 1x: R20 per sculler.
-
Medals:
Gold Silver and Bronze medals are awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed A
finalists amongst SA crews. Non-SA crews attaining actual 1st, 2nd and 3rd
places will be awarded additional medals. 2nd 8 and 2nd Quad medals will be
awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed crews in those events, but a schools
1st crew must have competed in the 1st 8(boys) and 1st Quad (girls) races.
