Record Equalling Schools Boat Race

12/9/2013 4:40:00 PM

2013 saw a record equalling entries into The SA Schools Boat Race, with 15 Boys entries and 9 Girls entries, plus a composite schools entry in the "Developing Schools" category. A new category designed to encourage Schools new to rowing to experience this incredible event.

The skeg eating sandbank in the Bay of Biscay saw a change in fortunes for many crews and perhaps the "Killing Fields" has lost it's reputation as the dreaded bogyman of the course.

Well done to the winners of the Girls event: St Andrew Girls who have now won the event on three occasions and to St Benedict's who won the 2013 Boys event for the fourth time.  St Mary's have won the Girls Race 7 times and St Andrews College have won the Boys Race on 6 occasions.

A huge THANK-YOU to Chris Barratt and his team of umpires for their professional management of the racing and to Pete Andrew, Don Cech and St Andrews College who organise the event on behalf of SASRU. Our venue hosts PARSC where as accommodating and patient as always, thank-you also!
